For Elementary School Students | For Junior, Middle or High School Students | For Parents
Dear Parents,
We’re so glad you’ve found this site. We hope it will encourage you to share your dreams – as well as our dreams – with your children.
We hope you’ll download the THIS I DREAM posters and essays. Hang them on the refrigerator and on the bathroom mirror. Let them inspire discussion and thoughtfulness in your home.
One day you will release your children out into the world. What dreams do you have for that world? Have you ever discussed these dreams with your family? How about turning off the TV, sitting together on the couch or porch and talking about your dreams with your kids?
Try it.
Perhaps while you’re driving you can point out the pothole and talk about your dream of safe roads and easy transportation; note the trees you want all children to have in their neighborhoods, and draw attention to the library, which in your dream may be stocked to the rafters with books and magazines, CDs and DVDS available to, and used by, everyone.
To you, they may be dreams. To your children, they could be their tomorrow.
Dear Student,
Now that you’ve read about these dreams, what are your dreams for the world? If you had magic powers, how would you change your community – or the world – for the better?
Because, you know, you do have amazing powers.
You have the power of the pen – to write letters to politicians, newspapers and corporations.
You have the power of the purse – you can decide not to buy products if companies treat their workers unfairly, if factories pollute the environment, if stores carry merchandise made by children in terrible conditions.
You have the power of your voice – you can speak up. Tell your family what they can do to help the environment. Tell your friends how you feel about peace and honesty. Tell your classmates what you think about truth and voting and politics.
We want you to dream. To dream big.
Make a drawing or a collage. Make a sculpture of your dream.
Write a song about your dream. Record it. Make a video. Put it on the Net.
Share your dreams to your class. Your family. The world.
Celebrate them.
Dreams can come true.
But a dream won’t exist unless you dream it first.

Dear Student,
How would your life be changed if one big dream you have for the world came true?
Think about your family for a minute. Does everyone have enough to eat? Does everyone have health care?
Think about your community. Are your schools adequate? Does everyone in your community have equal access to housing, jobs, recreational facilities?
Think about your country and the wider world. What can be improved?
Choose one dream you have for your family, community, country or world.
One dream. How would it change your life?
How would it change the world?
Now, join our authors and artists. Join us. Dream your future into existence. Make it happen.
